Lana Hefner
Lana received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in both Interior Design and painting from the University of Georgia in 1968, and pursued both interests in Atlanta. Born in Georgia, Lana has lived on the islands of South Carolina for the past 20 years. In the early 90’s she began to concentrate on painting this natural, unspoiled coastal landscape. The rich visual material available to her daily became her dominant inspirational theme. Her landscapes in oil, pastel and graphite concentrate on simplified shapes and expressive color to convey the  mood and emotional content of place. They speak of serenity, power, thoughtfulness and the ever changing beauty that convey mood of this special place. Concerned with color and the essentials of design, she takes the landscape towards the abstract. Lana has received numerous awards for excellence in painting. Her work is represented in private and corporate collections through the United States and Canada. In 1993 she founded Bay St Gallery.
