“Art has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. As a small child I was often tranquil for hours as I scribbled on scrap pieces of paper. Around the age of four I began to express my creativity through the art of dance. It was a great love in my life and remains so to this day. But during my studies in Paris I realized that visual arts would be my life long passion. Now my love for dance is expressed through my art, whether it be an actual dance technique or just an interpretation of movement. Creating art is like choreographing a dance; ideas are limitless.” Taylor began her study of sculpture in Paris, studying with such well-known masters as Joe Neill and Clara Delamater. Later working toward her Bachelor of Fine Art degree at North Georgia College, she received the Hal B. Rhodes Award given yearly to an outstanding artist. Turner’s figurative work in clay and bronze is sensitive and expressive. She deals with subjects and themes that have universal appeal. “The Gullah People of the Lowcountry” shown exclusively by Bay St. Gallery, captures the soul of the people, and speaks to the heritage, dignity and timelessness of the Gullah culture. She has won numerous First Place awards in juried shows and her work is sought for private, corporate and public collections. “For me art is the ultimate form of communication. It can explore the beauty and mystery of life as nothing else. I believe that to stimulate the imagination and fill minds with expectations, excitement, wonder and pleasure is one of the greatest gifts we are given.” In the words of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, “The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless.”
