| An
artist who explores…first the landscape for her subject matter, the
then subtle and delicate relationships of light, color and form. She
finds tremendous inspiration along the South Carolina coastline near her
home on the Isle of Palms. A high energy artist, she can often be seen
canoeing the Lowcountry rivers and marshes, walking the beach or forest,
camera in hand, searching for compelling subject matter contrasting
light or alluring color. The high desert country of New Mexico, the
Italian Coast, the black water rivers and clear springs of Florida, and
the Okefenokee Swamp have all been captured in pastel and oil. She was the recipient of the annual Fine Arts Award from the College of Charleston, where she graduated with a BA degree in Fine Arts. Susan’s work has been selected for numerous solo and group exhibits throughout the country. Her work is in many private and corporate collections as well as finer galleries in the southeast and in Santa Fe, New Mexico. “I am very exited to be included in the group of artists chosen to attend the ecologically focused USCB Artist Retreat at Prichard's Island. I look forward to having an immersion experience away from everything and getting some good inspiration.” Susan’s energy is not only evident in her work. She has recently had one of her paintings selected on the cover of 2005 Charleston County Parks and Recreation publication, and is planning a workshop in Santa Fe. Susan also teaches ongoing art classes to children and adults from her studio on Sullivan’s Island. |
